Kal Salama was the Director of Multiple Asset Strategies at INVESCO from 1998 to 2003. At INVESCO, Mr. Salama was responsible for global multi-asset portfolio strategies for U.S. institutional clients. He co-launched the Multiple Asset Strategies Group, building and offering US institutions truly unique global/local, multi-asset, multi-manager portfolios using local specialist teams around the world that were part of the broader AMVESCAP organization. That group now manages over $17 billion.
In 1995, Mr. Salama founded KS Global Advisors to provide global/international equity portfolios and asset allocation consulting. He created KS Global Strategies to provide a global equity long/short portfolio and later a global equity portable alpha portfolio.
Mr Salama became a Partner and Senior Asset Allocation Analyst with Brinson Partners, Inc. in 1990. During that period, Brinson Partners was the leading global investor for U.S. institutions. Mr. Salama developed the investment strategies for global and multi-asset portfolios, which grew to about $20 billion at the time of his departure.
As Vice President with institutional consultant Dorn, Helliesen & Cottle from 1986 to 1990, Mr. Salama conducted quantitative research, analysis and recommendations for institutional consulting client asset allocation and manager selection.
Mr. Salama began his career at the Pension Research Institute, where he worked under Dr. Frank Sortino as a Research Assistant field-testing asset allocation approaches for pension funds. Tested downside risk measures eventually became the Sortino Ratio.
